Super 7th GCA Parv | Global Clubfoot Awareness Parv
The “Super 7th GCA Parv” represents a significant milestone in the Global Clubfoot Awareness Parv (GCA Parv) project, spearheaded by the Give Vacha Foundation. This global initiative aims to raise awareness about clubfoot, a common birth defect, and promote knowledge about the available treatment options. The GCAP initiative began when Parv Thacker, the project’s global ambassador, was diagnosed with clubfoot in 2017.
Parv Thacker’s journey is a testament to the power of timely and dedicated treatment. After undergoing a series of treatments and surgeries, Parv overcame the physical challenges posed by clubfoot and is now fully recovered. This significant personal milestone led the foundation to designate the seventh year of the Global Clubfoot Awareness Parv as “Super 7th GCA Parv,” celebrating his triumph and the broader mission of the project.
The seventh year of the project, spanning from May 7, 2023, to May 7, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the foundation’s efforts to spread awareness about clubfoot and its treatment. Throughout this period, the project has implemented a series of social and cultural initiatives across cities in Kutch and Gujarat, blending local traditions with global perspectives. These efforts have garnered enthusiastic support from local and global communities, underscoring the project’s commitment to educating and supporting families affected by clubfoot. The message of hope and the availability of effective treatment options are reaching those who need it most.
Addressing Challenges
The ‘Super 7th GCA Parv’ project, led by Parv Fusion Band, aimed to address the challenge of raising awareness about clubfoot, a congenital deformity, on both local and global scales. The project was a special part of the “Global Clubfoot Awareness Parv (GCAP)” movement because Parv Thacker, the project ambassador, had completed his 7-year clubfoot treatment journey and decided to inspire others through his successful journey. The Give Vacha Foundation planned to magnify the impact of GCAP through continuous activities throughout the year as the “Super 7th GCA Parv” project.
One of the main objectives for the clubfoot-affected community group was to provide counseling to the families of affected babies to ensure they continue through the entire treatment phase of clubfoot. Research suggested that many patients left the treatment after a few weeks due to social stigma and lack of understanding about the importance of complete treatment.
Objectives of the Super 7th GCA Parv
The project sought to leverage the power of spirituality, literature, music, arts, festivals, and various cultural activities to ensure that healthcare initiatives reach a wide audience. Guided by a three-pronged approach, the project aimed to:
- To raise awareness about clubfoot, a congenital deformity, on both local and global scales through the power of spirituality, literature, music, arts, festivals, and various cultural activities, ensuring the healthcare initiatives reach a wide audience.
- To motivate other disabled individuals in the society to face the challenges with a positive attitude and live a happy life.
- To leverage the celebrity goodwill of the band members, including clubfoot warrior Parv Thacker, Vacha Thacker, Dr. Pooja, and Dr. Krupesh.
By addressing these challenges and leveraging the power of music, arts, and cultural activities, the ‘Super 7th GCA Parv’ project aimed to create a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by clubfoot and inspire others to face their own challenges with resilience and positivity.
Approach of the Super 7th GCA Parv
Based on the research and expected outcome goals, the ‘Super 7th GCA Parv’ project was planned to execute yearlong activities in 7 different wings to cater to a diverse audience through the means of spirituality, literature, music, arts, festivals, and cultural activities.
1. Clubfoot Awareness through Gunje Gita Spiritual Shows
The “Gunje Gita” show is a groundbreaking initiative that combines the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita with contemporary music to raise awareness about clubfoot, a common birth defect that affects millions of people worldwide. This innovative project is the brainchild of the Give Vacha Foundation, in collaboration with Krup Music, Krup Productions, and Esy ID. The show is a unique blend of spirituality and music, with the Parv Fusion Band performing chapters from the Bhagavad Gita with a modern twist, using guitars to add a melodic harmony to the recitations.
At the heart of the “Gunje Gita” show is the Parv Fusion Band, the official band of the Give Vacha Foundation NGO. This talented ensemble is led by Parv Thacker, who was born with bilateral clubfoot, a condition where both feet are rotated inward and downward. Through timely and dedicated treatment, Parv overcame the physical challenges posed by clubfoot and is now perfectly fine. His journey from a child with clubfoot to a confident performer and advocate is at the heart of this initiative.
The “Gunje Gita” show has completed over 50 performances throughout the year in Kutch and Gujarat. The band has toured numerous cities, including Anjar, Adipur, Gandhidham, Bhuj, Madhapar, and Mandvi in Kutch, spreading awareness about clubfoot in local public.
